I have been playing poker now for about 5 years, I have wagered cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various styles of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head casino game. I used to often win, whatever game we were playing and even though I liked to call it skill, it was really tough to justify considering the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was happy to accept I was having a protracted run of good fortune.

Then came Poker, or much more importantly Holdem Poker, made popular by a bunch of Texas card gamblers in the sixties and since developed into one of the largest card phenomena ever experienced. Poker is totally the new black, it can be uber awesome with several of the world’s leading stars racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels nowadays and you are able to not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each single gambler.

So with all of this fresh found recognition, with so several Television programmes dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are men and women going to understand that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I really should not get so worked up about this, after all the a lot more individuals who have difficulty with the delicate tactics and methods necessary for winning consistently at Texas hold em, the much better it’s for everyone else, correct? I mean, if they can’t be troubled to read all of the offered info about why placement is so important, why really should we bother? We really should just be happy there is an additional fish at the table!

It is true, we ought to not encourage idleness with guidance and aid. Even so, I liken this to a friendly casino game of football. Naturally the levels are not so great, except when you see a player struggling, you assist them, provide them a few advice, ultimately showing them a way to like, like and be thankful for the casino game as much as you. I am asking all house gamblers to do a similar thing with their poker friends who have not quite got a handle on the subtleties of betting position. Assist them to grow their respect for the game. Certainly, do not attempt to try this one in your neighborhood gambling house, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you teaching their supper how to swim!
