Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the customary 52-card common deck and a single joker. The player is given seven cards face up and the dealer is given seven cards face down.
One 5 card hand and one two card hand need to be put together from the seven cards dealt, the 5 card hand has to be better than the 2 card hand. To succeed, a player needs both of his hand values to be higher than the dealer’s.
