Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
